This policy tells you, among other things, what information we gather from you, how we may use or disclose that information and our efforts to protect it.
Types of Information Collected
In connection with your use of our site, we ask for and may collect a variety of information from and about you in different ways. For example, when you use our site, we may ask for and store you or your business’ user name, password, security question, e-mail address, phone, and/or other identifying contact data. In addition, to utilize some functions of our site, collection of additional information will be required, such as name, address, gender, age, and/or other information. If you utilize a service in which payment or billing information is required, this information will be collected. We may also collect the information you disclose in any of our services, including but not limited to, our chat rooms, discussion groups, bulletin boards, text evaluations, ratings, and profile content.
TutorialTab may share personal information with third-parties in the following circumstances:
When we have your consent.
To fulfill certain legal and regulatory requirements, or if we have a good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding or a court order or legal process served on us, or to assert or defend our legal rights, or to protect us or others from harm to persons or property.
We may transfer user information in connection with a business transition that takes place, such as, but not limited to, a merger of TutorialTab with and into another entity, the acquisition of TutorialTab by another entity, or a sale of a portion of TutorialTab’s assets to another entity in connection with a corporate reorganization.
We may disclose collective profiles, but not personal identifying information, of our users and their activities and preferences in describing our site and services to prospective partners, advertisers and other third parties, and for other lawful purposes.
We may disclose information in connection with our service of your account – for example, to shippers or mail houses, and to credit card companies and payment intermediaries (e.g. Paypal).
Portions of our site allows you to express your views and opinions, in accordance with the standard of conduct contained in our Terms of Service, by posting text evaluations and ranking users and companies, as well as other profile content. You agree that all information you submit to these forums may be made publicly available. Once information becomes publicly available on our site, it may be downloaded or copied by third parties, and TutorialTab has no control over who may access the information or how they might use it.
We use your personally identifying information to provide you with an efficient, smooth, and customized experience on our site. We may also use the information you provide for internal business purposes, such as generating statistics and developing marketing plans. We may use your email address to contact you directly regarding services or products that we believe may be of interest to you. For our internal business purposes, we may also associate your personally identifying information with information we collect about your preferences and activities at the site, such as the particular pages you view, the features you use, your user and company feedback, evaluations, and rankings, and purchases or other transactions you effect through the site.
We may combine your personally identifying information, and information about your preferences and activities, with those of all or a particular group of our users to prepare collective profiles of our users and their activities. For example, we may track the number of our users who view certain pages or use certain features or compile the user and company rankings conducted through our site in a particular geographic region. Such information, and other information we derive from individual users’ information, allows us to continue to grow and provide you with efficient, smooth service.
You may ask us to restrict our use of your information for purposes not directly related to our site or prohibit our disclosure of your information to others, by contacting us and directing us to impose such limits. To the extent economically reasonable, we will seek to implement your request, or inform you that we cannot do so. For example, if requested, we will not provide your information to any third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Please note, however, that we cannot guarantee the actions of third parties to whom we disclose your information, regardless of the steps they may take to protect such information. In addition, we will not send unsolicited messages to users of our site who indicate that they do not wish to receive such messages. If you do not wish to receive unsolicited email messages from us, please contact us at privacy@TutorialTab.com.
You can decline to submit personal information to any of our services, in which case TutorialTab may not be able to provide those services to you.
At any time after you have logged on to our site, you may contact us at privacy@TutorialTab.com to request access to information we have collected regarding you or your business or to notify us of corrections or changes to such information. If you request any such changes, we will contact you by email or fax to confirm those changes. Once confirmed, we will make reasonable commercial efforts to promptly update our records.
TutorialTab takes precautions to protect our users’ information, including physical, electronic, and procedural measures intended to prevent unauthorized access to or use of personally identifiable user information. Additionally, we restrict access to any transactional portions of our site to computers running web browsers that support Secure Socket Layer ("SSL") protocol. SSL-enabled browsers include Safari®, Internet Explorer®, Firefox®, Opera®, and Netscape Navigator® 3.0 or later. This restriction better protects the confidentiality of credit card and personal information while it’s transmitted over the Internet.
Please remember that you play a valuable part in security as well. Your password that you select to access certain portions of our site should never be shared with anyone and should be changed frequently. After you have finished using our site, you should log off and exit your browser so no unauthorized persons can use our site with your name and account information. You should be confident that the security of your computer and network has not been compromised by “key loggers” or other security risks. Remember that any information you voluntarily disclose in any news or message postings, discussion groups or chat rooms may be collected and used by others without your permission. Furthermore, if you provide any information to parties who operate Web sites that are linked to or from our site, different rules may apply to their collection, use or disclosure of your personal information. We encourage you to review these sites’ policies before revealing any sensitive or personal information.
Regardless of the precautions taken by you or by us, "perfect security" does not exist on the Internet. We cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you transmit such information at your own risk.
Teens are required to provide the e-mail address of a parent or guardian before submitting any personally identifiable information. A notification message is sent to the parent or guardian of all users who identify themselves as being between 13 and 17 years of age, which discloses the information provided by the teen and allows the parent or guardian to be aware of and participate in the teen’s on-line experience.
Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this Policy shall be settled by arbitration in accordance with the then current Commercial Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association. The parties shall endeavor to select a mutually acceptable arbitrator knowledgeable about issues relating to the subject matter of this Agreement. In the event the parties are unable to agree to such a selection, each party will select an arbitrator and the arbitrators in turn will select a third arbitrator. The arbitration will take place in Boston, Massachusetts. Judgment upon the award rendered may be entered in any court having proper jurisdiction.
